24 Jun STATFlash: U.S. SD-WAN Access Revenue and Connections
By Rosemary Cochran, Principal & Co-Founder, Vertical Systems Group

SD-WAN Access Revenue
$2.7 Billion
- DIA (Dedicated Internet Access) is the top source of SD-WAN Access revenue, accounting for greater than half of the $2.7 billion 2025 base. DIA services are premium priced as they provide customers with secure, dedicated symmetrical access.
- Broadband is the second largest source of SD-WAN Access revenue. Broadband connections have a considerably lower monthly cost as compared to DIA and MPLS connectivity.
- MPLS has the third largest managed SD-WAN revenue base, and the highest average monthly pricing across all WAN access solutions. This premium priced service meets customer requirements for security, reliability and predictable application performance, backed by Service Level Agreements.
- Wireless revenue is relatively low across the U.S. SD-WAN Access market. These services provide asymmetrical wireless connectivity, and are typically configured to support lower bandwidth applications.
- Satellite revenue for U.S. SD-WAN Access services is minimal, and predominately focused on rural customers.
SD-WAN Access Connections
1+ Million
- Broadband is the most widely deployed SD-WAN Access underlay service, accounting for nearly half of the 1+ million connections installed. Customers rely on broadband services for best-effort, shared asymmetrical access to the public Internet and cloud services.
- DIA connections comprise nearly one-third of U.S. SD-WAN Access connections. Pricing for DIA SD-WAN is significantly higher as compared to Broadband services. DIA connectivity enables customers to have full use of subscribed bandwidth for both upload and download.
- Wireless connections are the third most deployed SD-WAN Access solution, and the lowest based on price. Emerging wireless connectivity includes 5G/FWA services that provide higher speeds with lower latency as compared to LTE and 4G.
- MPLS has a relatively small base of SD-WAN Access connections. Use of MPLS for SD-WAN Access connectivity has been slowing as customers opt for lower cost DIA or Broadband services.
- Satellite connections deployed for U.S. SD-WAN customers remain negligible.
